Honestly, if it weren’t for Sarah’s unsolicited legal advice, we wouldn’t even have a case to follow. And for a show like Matlock, courtroom drama is still essential—it keeps the plot from feeling thin or dull.
So when Sarah spills to Billy about her client who may have accidentally killed his business partner, you know we’re in for a ride. The shared moments between Sarah and Billy, their teamwork, and Matty stepping in to help—complete with his own thoughtful flashbacks—remind us just how far we’ve come since the beginning.
It also beautifully highlights the balance between Sarah’s fiery outbursts and Billy’s calm, steady hand. They’re the perfect match—and proof that sometimes, all you need is someone who’s always in your corner.
Olympia, Matty, and the Fractures Beneath
Of course, Olympia’s furious, but Matty steps in to calm her down and gently reminds her how she once dismissed Sarah at the beginning of the season. While this doesn’t magically rebuild trust between Olympia and Matty, it does begin to ease the tension in Olympia’s working relationship with Sarah.
Forced to lead the defense case, Sarah finds her rhythm—and with it, a kind of self-confidence that only comes when you truly own your path. The most surprising moment? When she cross-examines Rob’s wife, we catch a glimpse of her gentle, empathetic side—a side we’d only briefly seen before in Matlock Season 1, Episode 10, “Crash Helmet On.”
This episode shows Sarah inching toward a brilliant legal career and a deeper, more open bond with Billy—especially when the two bicker over how much they secretly enjoy working together.
Edwin and Matty: A Tension That Cuts Deep
Edwin has always been a constant in Matty’s life. So to see them butting heads more and more as the Wellbrexa case wraps up is genuinely heartbreaking. It’s a powerful shift in their dynamic that underscores just how high the emotional stakes have become.
Throughout the season, Edwin has rarely criticized Matty. But now, they seem to have hit a wall—especially as Matty reminisces about his time at Jacobson Moore, a job he clearly loved.
